Introducing EB Knits Home: Living + Bath

Introducing… the first items in the EB Knits living and bath portions of the home collections! Both of these items, face scrubbies and coasters have rocketed to the top of my most used items every single day. AND I am so proud to bring them to you!

If you know me, you know I ALWAYS have a giant cup of water next to me (I do right now as I type this, too) and these coasters are my favorite ones to protect my table from any condensation. Honestly the other day I used one of the original coasters I had in my house, a hard cement-like one, and was not satisfied with it so I’ve gone back to this coaster ever since! With the face scrubbies, I use them twice a day, every day (to apply face toner and remove makeup) and I love how soft and effective they are, plus they’re reusable so I am reducing the amounts of waste in my skin care routine!

The first release in the home collection were my hand-painted baskets and I wrote an entire blog post about the basket collection because there are so many options. I love these latest additions to the collection!

A little backstory:

Craftsmanship

I’ve spent weeks testing a variety of styles, existing patterns and new designs to create options that are up to my high standards that I personally use every day and am proud to present to you. I think you’ll love these items in your own home!

Eco-friendly

All of the yarn used in the coasters and face scrubbies is sourced from Echoview Fiber Mill and is 100% organic cotton. I am extremely proud to work with Echoview Fiber Mill, which is a mill based in North Carolina that prioritizes eco-friendly practices (their entire building is Gold LEED-certified and runs on solar panels) and fair labor practices, ensuring a living wage for their employees. You can read more about their philosophy here. This specific yarn is made with U.S.-sourced organic cotton, and then spun into yarn on an old fashioned shoelace machine in N.C. The minimal distance that the cotton has to travel (since it’s U.S. based) reduces emissions and the fact that it is organic cotton means safer working conditions for farmers growing the cotton and less pesticides used in the process.

Color

You all know I’m a sucker for color! I love the peach pink color, but the marigold yellow has to be my surprising favorite at the moment. It reminds me of the sun and perfect for hot summer months to accessorize your patio or home decor with a punch of bright color! But I haven’t forgotten about you, you neutral lover, the gray and white tones are still lovely and a wonderful complement to accessorize your living spaces.

Puff Coasters

I designed these coasters with a simple puff stitch after several iterations. I wanted to make sure they are sturdy and have no holes. Personally, I wanted a cute coaster that was still reliable enough to hold my drink, prevent any condensation from pooling on my table (because that’s the point of coasters, right?) and not be flimsy when I pick it up. I saw many crochet and knit coasters that were cute, but too flimsy for me and a lot of them contained lacy designs. So I passed on these options. Because of these points I wanted to make sure to meet, I am only releasing one coaster style right now, but will have a few more in the future if you are fans!

And this specific style meets all my requirements cute, thick and sturdy - I definitely think they’re cute and I love the color options whether you like the neutral colors or pops of color for some fun in your decor! I have used this coaster in my own home for the last six weeks and it’s quickly become my favorite coaster. Because it is 100% cotton, it soaks up any condensation, rather than it pooling onto a coaster made from another material.

Fringe Coasters

These fringe coasters were a community effort! Thank you all for your support. I wasn’t sure I loved the fringe coaster as I was making the very first one so I asked you on Instagram stories and only one person voted against it - so I went ahead and finished the coaster! And I am so glad you convinced me to finish it because now I think it’s adorable. Check you the @EBKnits Instagram “BTS“ highlight as well because I recorded the entire making process and even timed myself so you all can see exactly how the process for making this coaster comes along! The one caveat to this coaster is that the fringe is pretty time consuming to add but I absolutely think it’s worth it.

Details: 100% organic cotton. Feel free to throw these in the washer. They are 100% cotton so they may shrink if you put them in the dryer on too high of heat though.

Baskets

I wrote an entire blog post about the basket collection alone since they’re so fun and unique, which you can find here.

Trivet

This trivet was born out of many iterations and attempts. It actually combines two yarns, which creates the fun marled effect. The thermal stitch used in this trivet is extra thick which means there’s no chance of burning yourself (if you choose to use it as a hot pad) or your counter tops. Plus, this yarn is 100% cotton so no worries about the fiber burning. And the cotton is organic and domestically sourced in the United States, which means it’s environmentally-friendly and uses less harmful chemicals than traditional cotton. The wooden ring detail at the corner of the trivet adds extra style and versatility so you can display your trivet hanging in your kitchen even when it’s not in use. The pattern for this trivet is from the talented Sewrella.

Face scrubbies

These face scrubbies originated, like many of the other EB Knits items, from a personal desire to reduce waste. During my daily face routine, I would use a cotton pad or tissue then throw it out and I finally decided to experiment with other options to eliminate the consistent trash. I felt wasteful throwing out cotton pads and opted to try reususable pads instead. And rather than purchasing some at the store, I figured I’d try to make my own. I ended up loving three different styles and have combined them in a pack of three for you to try each one!

Personally I use all three of the scrubbie styles interchangeably to take off makeup at night and another to apply my face toner twice a day. While each style feels differently on my skin, I don’t see a major difference in each. But I’m also not a skin care or makeup expert so I’ve included all three for you to decide what works best for your skin type. I have found these are also very easy to wash in the dryer so you don't have to worry about hand washing them, just throw them in with your regular load of laundry. I tie mine together in the washer and dryer just to be extra sure I don’t lose one since they are so small.

Solid circle

This one is the simplest version of the scrubbie with a smooth exterior which results in little exfoliation, but it’s really nice for simply removing makeup or applying toner.

Puff

The puffs allow more of an exfoliation for appropriate products.

Flower

A combination of the two above, this one is great for a very very light exfoliation of your skin. Plus the flower shape is just adorable, if I say so myself!

Details: 100% organic cotton. Machine wash with regular loads (beware if high heat, may shrink slightly). These arrive tied together for ease when washing and storing. Feel free to cut tie or leave as is. Because these are so small, I was nervous to put a single scrubbie in the washer and dryer in fear of it disappearing so I tied three together and have found that they wash thoroughly and I am not weary of losing them in the wash anymore.

What’s next?

I will likely continue to update this post with the latest items in the home collection that are released unless there’s an entire collection launch or coordinating objects that would best be featured in their own post. Watch out for more items in the home collection like hot pads and maybe some wash clothes released in the future!
