Bellchase Ruby: The Purpose

As I transition from EB Knits and enter into the new phase of Bellchase Ruby, I enter it less with a business mindset and more as a passion project. I want to leave behind the pressure of creating and the pressure to profit off of my passions, albeit the pressure has come entirely from myself.

Bellchase Ruby will encompass two specific elements. First it will feature small businesses that I am excited about and believe in. These include businesses with ethical, small, local and/or environmentally friendly products and missions and I'm excited to introduce you to their stories along with their products in the new shop for you to purchase. Cultivating these products and presenting them to you will be my primary focus.

Secondly, I want to leave behind the pressure of creating and the pressure to profit off of my passions. Instead, I will value my projects for what they are worth, while at the same time, making an impact in causes and organizations I care about in a more selective manner. This means that I will still create art (Art includes knitting, fiber projects and any other creative endeavors.) and include it within the Bellchase Ruby landscape, however it will exist in an extremely limited capacity and selective basis. Furthermore, this means:

  1. That my art will be valued and priced at what I deem that it is worth. I am leaving behind the mindset that I need to discount my art to cater to a certain budget. I understand this means not every product will be accessible for those with limited budgets, however I hope you can respect this choice and find another item in the shop that is more applicable to you.

  2. I may support, promote and share organizations or causes that you do not align with, yet are incredibly important to me. I extensively research before committing to a cause and hate or intolerance of any kind will not be permissible. (This was the same policy with EB Knits, reiterating again for importance. I will use my own judgement on this as I see necessary. Also, I may make mistakes along the way so please politely educate me when you notice, I want to learn and be the best ally I can be.)

  3. I still love color. I still support small. And I still focus on environmental and human-friendly materials.

  4. I cannot and will not keep up with fast fashion trends or even seasonal updates. This means every collection will be small and available in limited quantities, so if you love a specific item, order it while you can because I cannot make any promises or guarantees that certain products will ever return to the shop.

I'm releasing myself of the personal pressure to constantly create and curate for this small business. Bellchase Ruby is a passion project and a very micro business, and I want to continue to enjoy it and thrive within it. I appreciate your patience and support as these updates roll out and products are slowly added to the shop.

With so much love and appreciation,

Emily
