Breaking News: EB Knits is now Bellchase Ruby 〰️
I established EB Knits around November 2018 and it stemmed from my passion for knitting and sharing this creative hobby with friends and family. As I learned about entrepreneurship, developed my knitting skills and researched deeper into the knitting community, my love for all facets of the business grew and the business evolved. I started EB Knits knitting strictly beanies, then I moved into winter accessories collections, then incorporated home goods and began using more planet-friendly materials. However, after a few seasons of knitting-for-profit, I started to burn out and I chose to make the personal decision to turn my love of knitting back into a hobby exclusively. This relieved the pressure of deadlines in my knitting and the guilt that I felt for pricing my items fairly (read: at such a high cost).
But I wasn’t ready to give up on my small business altogether. Through EB Knits I discovered many small businesses with unique and special products that I’m passionate about and want to support, therefore I the idea of Bellchase Ruby was born. Honestly, I’ve been thinking about Bellchase Ruby and brainstorming exactly how I want to develop it for years now. And I’ve finally decided to stop waiting for perfection and hit publish on this website and see where it takes me.
Bellchase Ruby is intended to be a central location to support and share small businesses that I love. This avenue allows me to continue to pursue entrepreneurship, while also curating collections of products that I love from other small businesses. Another plus of this new shop is “Bellchase Ruby“ can be anything, with the title “EB Knits,“ I felt extremely limited to only incorporating knit products and felt that every product had to be made by me (since EB is my initials). Bellchase Ruby is still personal to me, but much more broad and this name will allow me to expand and grow without limitations (I hope).
With this change, I can enjoy knitting and my other passions for me, with no pressure to produce for anyone or anything else. And, yet, I will be able to share my love of certain small businesses, share their products in my shop. And every once in a while, I might feel the urge to offer handmade items made by me, as well!
I hope you come along with me for this ride! Bellchase Ruby is very much about embracing the simple things, relieving pressure, and leaning into the fun of business. In time, Bellchase Ruby will become a curation of intentional brands and products for your eco-conscious home. For the foreseeable future, I see Bellchase Ruby as a super-micro business where I can share my passions on a very slow and low-pressure basis. I don’t plan on marketing the products extensively on social media or bringing new products into the shop every single month. Eventually, I’ll find a groove that works for me, but for now, I’m embracing slow. I hope you appreciate that, too.
With so much love,
Emily
