EB Knits Resources: Small shops I love

Since starting my business, I’ve realized how special it is to support other small business, so I try to do so as much as possible. Most of these shops are woman-owned businesses and a lot of them are one-woman shows like myself! Also, many of them, especially the yarn resources, prioritize eco-friendly initiatives in their businesses! Basically, they’re all around awesome and I highly recommend them if you’re looking to support fellow small shops in your maker business! In another post about my own eco-friendly journey, I went into detail about where I source from and how those products and businesses are eco-friendly if you’d like to take a look! Below are the shops I’ve worked with so far:

Small shops I source from + support

RKC Handmade faux fur poms

RKC Handmade faux fur poms

Faux Fur Poms:

RKC Handmade

  • I LOVE these poms, Jackal is my favorite color! I will 100% be a return customer

  • Update: As of 2020, this artisan has transitioned to solely designing and no longer makes faux fur poms so I’ll be on the hunt for a new pom small shop!

Kitchen Klutter

  • Kitchen Klutter is another one-woman show and her poms are so nicely made and she is super responsive! AND she makes the cutest project bags AND she is so kind and supportive of other makers on social media!!

Debrosse

  • She no longer sells poms or kits and has also solely stepping into her role as a designer and teacher. I really enjoy following her both as a fellow artisan and business woman!

EB Knits tags

All This Wood

  • Such a wide variety of tag options - all customizable! I love the faux leather tags I first ordered. They are very well made and durable! My next order will be for cork tags to align with my goal of using sustainable materials.

Fun extra’s

FlowerSeed Paper

  • I found this wonderful shop on Etsy that makes paper (or other fun cutouts) from what’s called flower seed paper. They actually make this biodegradable tree-free fiber with wildflower seeds embedded into it so you can plant it and flowers will sprout! Such a cool concept, right?! I will include these in special promotions or collections for you to try out.

Stamp

Creatiate

  • The CUTEST stamps, both custom and pre-made. Also a gem on social media!

Business cards + hang tags:

Greenerprinter

  • Greenerprinter uses specifically soy and vegetable based ink which is printed on 100% post consumer recycled fiber and it’s all 100% biodegradable and made in the U.S.! I ordered a round of business cards to hand out for myself as well as a round of hang tags (for info like care instructions and materials) to include in your order so you are well-informed about each knit accessory!

Packaging

EcoEnclose

  • Dedicated to providing eco-friendly and sustainable packaging options! They’re undeterred in their development of the latest eco-friendly technology and materials. I currently use their 100% recycled polymailers, natural hemp twine and recycled shopping bags. I plan to also order their shipping labels and additional sizes of polymailers in the future.

YARN

Wool and the Gang

A larger company than many of the other businesses I’ve made mention of, but I want to give them credit because I. AM. HERE. FOR. THIS. YARN. They are a company with a huge focus on eco-friendly and sustainable initiatives and I have experimented with about 5 of their yarns and counting! I absolutely love their focus to recycle/upcycle and care for the environment as well as how they are transparent about where they source their animal fibers from. You can find more about the different yarn fibers I’ve tried here.

Echoview Fiber Mill

In line with my mission to source ethical and eco-friendly fibers, this initiative drives Echoview Fiber Mill as well! I feel confident supporting a fellow business that puts ethical sourcing, fair pay and eco-friendly resources first.

I have another post in the works highlighting my personal yarn stash and independent dyers that I support and have been thrilled with the yarn I received from them! I definitely want to highlight those magnificent business owners as well, but because of the price point they are not conducive to creating EB Knits items with so I’ll feature them in an upcoming blog post.

Thank you for stopping by the EB Knits blog and hopefully a few of these small shops are great resources for you as well! I’ll continue to update this post as I source from more shops and grow EB Knits.
